Alvarez MG70CE Masterworks
The rebirth of Alvarez's all-solid Masterworks guitars has been two years in the making, but the end result is well worth the wait, simply check out the MG70CE. Alvarez found a way to combine the magic & character of traditional, old-world craftsmanship with the consistency of modern manufacturing techniques to create guitars that are full of life and personality unlike anything else in their price range. It all starts with the wood, and Alvarez hand-selects the all-solid tone woods for each Masterworks guitar. Then, by precise placement and scalloping of the top bracing, they maximize the top resonance without compromising stability. Allowing the top to move as freely as possible results in a guitar that is practically bursting with energy & volume. Tons of bass without sacrificing midrange articulation, and a sweet, singing high-end that never sounds brittle or compressed. Attention to details means none of those good vibrations are wasted. The genuine bone nut and ebony bridge pins won't suck up harmonics like plastic will, and the bi-level rosewood bridge puts extra down-pressure on the bone saddle for maximum energy transfer from the strings to the top. Grover RotoMatics are the ultimate precision tuners, and the SYS650 preamp accurately reproduces every note. Great care was taken in shaping the neck so that it's fast without feeling flimsy, and the partial finish on the back of the neck feels like it's been broken in for 20 years. If you're looking for an acoustic that's under a grand, but booms like a boutique instrument that's twice its price, the Masterworks MG70CE is the guitar you've been waiting for.
